Cycling, running and playing football through a hot summer

Cycling Event in Kranjska Gora

Keeping fit is something we usually do by running, but we participate in other sports activities too. At the beginning of this June, 10 of our colleagues went to the ISBD Cycling Event in Kranjska Gora.

After two years of organizing the event in the Dolomites and on the Istrian coast, the ISBD Cycling Event 2019 went to the mountains of Slovenia.

The event was opened to all cyclists, whether they were professionals or beginners. Therefore, there were two races with different levels of difficulty: the Fun Race dedicated to beginners (5 km) and lower elevation, and the Pro Race for more expert cyclists (11 km) with higher elevation.

For extra motivation, Francesco Moser, the Italian former professional road bicycle racer, came as a guest cycler this year. He is also known as “Lo sceriffo” (The sheriff) and he won the 1984 Giro d’Italia and the 1977 world road racing championship.

Our little but tough crew went only to have fun but returned with three silver medals. The medals came just like a cherry on the top of the perfect weekend for the entire Mercury Processing Services International team as they all share fantastic memories from the event.

Each one of them is racing with other goals in mind perhaps, but they certainly share the same excitement and determination.

Relay run at B2B Ljubljana

Slovenia hosted another sporting event in mid-June – B2B run in Ljubljana, where 11 of our employees eagerly split into 4 relay teams of 3 runners and did their best at the short yet intense 3 km long track.

The results were very good – three of our employees won the excellent 4th place among 145 mixed relay teams! As always, the after-race hours were the most enjoyable part, thanks to the traditionally rich program of the event.

Banking Games in Poreč

June has always been reserved for the traditional Slovenian Banking Sports Games in Poreč and this year was no exception. 25 of our employees from Slovenia participated in this long-standing event, competing in 5 different sports.

The best result was achieved by our football team. The 9-pin bowling team, as always, was among finalists and finally reached the excellent 6th place. The table tennis tandem finished in 9th place, and our two air rifle teams got 10th and 17th place.

However, the best part was mingling and having fun together and representing our company.
