A Strong Year Ahead For Cash and ATMs

In an age when we have been pushing digital payments to overtake cash payments, when contactless cards are becoming more and more popular around the world and when we have wearable technology and connected homes that can learn your shopping patterns, ATM withdrawals and cash are still holding on to their popularity.

According to RBR figures published in the Global ATM Market and Forecasts to 2020 report, global ATM cash withdrawal volumes grew by 7% in 2014 and the growth in the number of ATMs was even higher: the global installed base passed the three million mark.

RBR forecasts that the overall number of ATMs worldwide will increase out to 2020, as banks leverage cash withdrawals and other revenue-generating banking services via the ATM channel.
